Speaker Q&A: Jack Sharkey, Vision Commercial Kitchens
Jack Sharkey is owner & MD of Vision Commercial Kitchens. He’ll be appearing in the ceda-hosted ‘Big questions for kitchen houses’ panel on opening day, and discussing the ‘The rise of connected kitchens’ with the FEJ‘s Andrew Seymour on the show’s second day.
What do you feel is the key for operators / caterers to successfully compete against their competitors?
Ensure they are offering the consumer what they want, continually innovating and improving their offer. Don’t sit back (but isn’t that the key to any good business).
What do you see as key trends for commercial kitchens in the coming year?
Theatre and smaller kitchens (but that’s been coming for several years now).
How important is the Commercial Kitchen trade show to you and the sector?
I think its invaluable, especially the fact that it’s centrally located in the UK. It allows me to get my sales people, designers and project managers to attend and get greater exposure to new products entering the market.
Describe the Commercial Kitchen trade show in 3 words:
Continual professional Development (CPD).
Who or what inspires you to be even better?
Fear of failure and always wanting to be the best at what I do. I always want to know more than anyone else.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always had.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know:
I used to show jump horses, learnt Ballroom dancing, and lived and went to school in Germany growing up.
